Didn't stay when informed there would be loud music 'til late in the night.

we were a family of four that stayed at this hotel. We booked a double room and a triple room, both rooms were very clean and comfortable

what we did not like about this hotel was that we could not order a hot breakfast, they only supplied cereal, toast and coffee. Also we were not informed that they are open until 2am friday night/saturday morning with all the party goers right outside our window/balcony. we would still recommend this hotel and stay here but ask for a room NOT at the front of the hotel if staying here on a weekend!

it's in the centre of town. plenty of carparks at rear of the building.

I think it was overpriced. They have recently been renovated, but the bathrooms from the 1950's have not been touched. There are no full length mirror in the room, lack of table and chairs in larger family room. Taps were reversed (hot on cold side etc). Hot water took several minutes to come through. Continental breakfast is not really the continental breakfast that you would get at other hotels. We got Juice, cereal, coffee, toast. They have friday night dance night in the front bar until 3am which is very loud in the rooms right above that area. very basic shelving in the rooms and in some of the rooms it hangs over the end of the bed, and in the way of your entry door. not very good lighting in the rooms. should be better lighting over the hand basin in bathroom for when you apply your makeup etc.

Easily excessible, and affordable. Clean and good location in street

Didn't spend enough time to find any bad points.

Its central location and its quirky heritage memorabilia. Also, there was a function in the Dining room that threatened to overpower us with noise but it tuned out not to be so. That's a plus ... good noise minimisation!

We found the room barely big enough and the placement of the shelving was quite awkward to manoeuvre around. For a guest with a bad back, or one who needed to get out of bed in the night, it wasn't ideal by any score. I wondered whether the shelving would have been better placed under the TV and, if necessary, the TV maybe put where the shelving is. The stairs were also a problem for two older folk with a fear of stairs and two dicky knees.

Our room was clean although very small. The bathroom was well equipped , it also was cramped. One of our concerns was that both the bedroom and bathroom windows opened out to the rooftop balcony and neither of them were lockable or could anyway be secured and could easily be opened from outside We ordered a meal in the restaurant and it was so far below acceptable quality that we refused to eat either meal. I have never done anything like that before and felt terrible having to do it.

    Staff very friendly

Free wi-fi not working, Mosquitos in room (no screens on windows) and room generally tired and dated

    The location and the characters

The noise of the compressors throughout the night and the hotel lights shine into the rooms making sleeping impossible. Worst night ever. The dining room reminded me of fawlty towers. Eventually you got the meal you ordered.

I found every staff member overwhelmingly friendly and helpful which made us feel at home straight away. The locattion right in the middle of town was just what we needed. The room itself was nice and clean The cooked breakfast was perfect and once again the staff in that area were friendly and helpful.. Ds

However I was disappointed to find the crockery hadn;t been put through the diswasher - you can usually tell if ts squeaky clean!. In this case there were dried coffee marks on the saucers and dried milky sludge in the bowl of the teaspoons which rinsed off easily in cold water. From that I assumed the cups probably didn't make it to the kitchen either but just got a cold tap rinse! .The noise from the bar under our room was excessive and contnued such until after 2 A.M. - absolute torture and rather defeated our purpose as motorists in paying for accommodation to gain a restful nights sleep before another day's driving. - and it wasn't exactly cheap! Ds

Clean tidy rooms with good service

Breakfast very basic and not the best. Bathrooms could do with upgrading and shower heads that dint flood the bathroom. Room itself is very nice.

The hotel has wonderful staff, The restaurant was of big city quality. A+

Didn't like the toilet paper dispenser in main toilets downstairs

  • Family with children

the convienience of location to break our journey down, the restaurant was clean and tidy

The rooms were very basic with no on-suite bathroom only a shared one that was very dirty old fashioned and unpleasent. dirty cups in the room unwased from previous guests, no litter bin, no remote for tv and grafitti on side of chair from a previous guest. The hotel balconey outside our room was very noisey at 5am in the morning due to mine workers smoking and chatting away before they left for work. food was basic low quality and expensive in restaurant.
